First printed in 1861 with the large size notes. Small size notes started in 1928.  The large bills featured Alexander Hamilton, Henry Clay, George Washington, Edward Everett, Silas Wright, William Seward and Ulysses Grant for different years.   Federal Reserve Notes, Silver certificates and Gold certificates were also issued. Ulysses Grant carried over to the Small notes, Federal Reserve Notes, National Bank Notes and Gold Certificates have all been issued in small size.
